Receive divine health – Joseph Prince sermon reflection with Isaiah 53:5, illustrated person with open arms

How to Receive Divine Health: Healing Is a Gift of Grace (Joseph Prince Sermon)

“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows… and with his stripes we are healed.” — Isaiah 53:4–5 (KJV)

Some of us have been praying for healing like we’re trying to convince God. As if we need to be good enough, pray long enough, or believe hard enough before He’ll move. This sermon from Joseph Prince is a beautiful reminder that divine health isn’t something we earn. It’s something Jesus already paid for, and we get to receive it.

Healing was paid for at the cross

The Gospel isn’t only about forgiveness of sins. When Jesus went to the cross, He carried our sicknesses too. Peter says it in past tense: “Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree… by whose stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24). Were. Already done.

That changes how we pray. We’re not begging for something God is reluctant to give. We’re thanking Him for something He has already given, and asking for grace to receive it in our bodies.

And look at how David speaks to his own soul: “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases” (Psalm 103:2–3). Forgiveness and healing sit side by side. Both are benefits. Both are His gifts.

Healing is a gift, receive it don’t earn it – 4 ways to walk in divine health: believe, speak, remember, partake
Healing is a gift. Receive it, don’t earn it.

4 ways to walk in divine health

1. Believe: it was paid for

Start with what Jesus has done, not with how you feel. “With his stripes we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). Faith rests on the finished work. Every symptom you face, look again at the cross.

2. Speak: keep His Word in your heart and mouth

“My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh” (Proverbs 4:20–22). God’s Word is literally called medicine for the body. Read it. Listen to it. Say it out loud.

3. Remember: forget not all His benefits

Fear makes us forget. Gratitude makes us remember. Thank Him for every past healing, every answered prayer, every time He carried you through. “I am the LORD that healeth thee” (Exodus 15:26). That’s His name. That’s who He is.

4. Partake: take communion with faith

Jesus said, “Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:24). When we take the bread, we remember that His body was broken so ours could be whole. Communion isn’t a ritual to earn healing. It’s a meal where we receive what He has already given.

What I’m taking from this

I love that this message takes the pressure off. You don’t have to perform to be healed. You get to rest in Jesus, and let His grace do what your striving never could. “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth” (3 John 2). That’s God’s heart for you.

A gentle note: Faith and medicine are not enemies. Keep seeing your doctor, keep taking care of your body, and keep trusting Jesus through it all. God often heals through doctors, nurses and treatment too.
